Privacy notice
This site collects very little data. If you write to us through the form, your name, email and message reach the project's inbox only so we can reply. We measure visits without cookies and without identifying you, YouTube videos load only when you click them, and GoFundMe processes donations.
Who is responsible for this site?
Start with a Smile Project (Proyecto Sonrisas), the community initiative of Amalia Jarquín in Antigua, Guatemala. For any privacy question, email amaliajarquin@gmail.com.
What data does the contact form collect?
Only what you type: your name, your email, your message and, if you choose, your country. When you send it, the site delivers it as an email to amaliajarquin@gmail.com through Resend, an email delivery service. The site doesn't store it in any database.
We use that information only to reply to you. This site has no newsletter or mailing list. To stop automated spam, the system counts for a few minutes how many messages come from the same connection, and that count clears itself.
Does this site use cookies?
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, or social media pixels. To know how many people visit and how fast pages load, we use Web Analytics and Speed Insights, two tools from Vercel, the company that hosts the site. Both work without cookies and don't identify you: they record general data such as the page you visit, the site you came from, your country or approximate city, device type, browser and load time, and show it to us only as statistics. Details are in the Web Analytics and Speed Insights privacy policies.
What happens when I watch a YouTube video?
Until you click, the page only shows an image stored on this site and doesn't connect to YouTube. When you click, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and from then on Google's privacy policy applies. The video of Amalia's story is hosted on this site.
Who processes my donation?
Monetary donations are made on GoFundMe, which processes them under its own privacy notice. This site never receives or stores your card details.
How do I ask you to delete my data?
Email amaliajarquin@gmail.com and ask us to delete your messages and contact details. If you wrote to us on WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, that conversation also lives on that service, under its own rules.
